Author Biography

Louise Trotter Louise Trotter was a nationally recognized performer, workshop leader, and panelist in conferences of the American Harp Society, International Society of Folk Harpers and Craftsmen, Canadian Folk Harp society, and the Edinburgh, Scotland, Harp Festival. She had been a featured performer in the Lyon and Healy Harp Company's Pop and Jazz Harpfests, taught in the June 2001 Harpfest in Los Angeles, CA.

A native of Port Arthur, Texas, Louise had classical training in piano and harp from early childhood. Advanced harp study was with Mildred Dilling in New York City. She played several years with the Beaumont and Baytown Symphonies. Her interest in modern harmony led to studies with the leading pop and jazz artists in the U.S. Louise gave pop workshops all over the U.S., Canada and at the Clarsach Society of London and Edinburgh. Her spirit of fun and sharing brought out the creative side of even the most hesitant class members. She published many harp arrangements, original compositions and "how-to" manuals under the desktop publishing name "Harpventures". Her nine recorded albums are a variety of classical, pop, American folk, country western, Christmas, sacred hymns, and jazz quartet. True to her Texas heritage, she enjoyed including country western songs in her performing and writing.

Louise Trotter passed away in 2019, at age 96.
