Hannelore DeVaere,(The Spanish Double Harp), is a resident of Brugges, Belgium. She received a Master's Degree cum laude in Musicology at the University of Leuven, Belgium. She studied historical harp performance with Andrew Lawrence-King in Germany. She is currently the harpist with many ensembles, including her own, The
Lady Clifton's Spirit, and has performed in many European cities.
She teaches at the Belgian Music Academy of Knokke and at the
Musikhochschule in Bremen, and regularly teaches Early Harp classes with
Christina Pluhar in Brugge and Paris. Her publications include her dissertation, "La Harpe Pleyel", and
articles on the baroque double harp, diatonic and simple chromatic
harps, and music for tecla, harp and vihuela.
